Description:
I was brought in to lead a team of Flash developers building a Flash MX based online learning system. The system consists of a variety of learning module based courses that are dynamically drawn from a database backend by making RPC calls to the server via Flash Remoting for PHP (amfPHP). All of the user’s progress and answers to tests are tracked and relevant statistics are available in the admin section of the site. In addition to the stats, administrators can design and deploy new courses, manage users and send out reminder emails based on users scores etc.

Description:
The client came to me looking for a way to let researchers outside their organization to have access to their research studies. I suggested creating an online searchable database using PHP, MySQL and Apache because the organization is non profit and on a limited budget. Within a week I developed and delivered them a full fledged database admin panel for editing and maintaining the MySQL database I designed. The client proceeded to populate the database via the admin panel while I was still working on the search engine for their users. This worked especially well because the channels between the client and I were very open so at no time did development slow down. From start to finish I was able to get the project completed solo in less than three weeks. The client was very impressed and shocked by my speedy development.

Description:
This project was an overhaul of a project I had done for the client a number of years back. With all the new features of Macromedia Flash MX the client wanted to transition the old Coldfusion/HTML based site to a new Flash interface with an extensive list of new features. The old site was very complex involving thousands of lines of Coldfusion and HTML which had to be translated to PHP and Actionscript. The task was tedious and stressful but the outcome was amazing. The new database and flash interface easily doubled the performance of the old system and many of the limitations of the old system were resolved.

Description:
I was handed the client’s original site and asked to find them a cheaper, more robust solution than they were currently using. After much research I found that OSCommerce (a leading open source cart) to best fit their needs. I set up OSCommerce on their server, moved their products over and then, using my knowledge of PHP, went through and recoded the carts entire interface to mimic the original site’s look and feel. Much of the cart had to be customized including graphics, table structures and business logic. The client ended up saving thousands on a new shopping cart and now has one of the most robust shopping carts available.

Description:
I was brought in to redesign the existing home page because of my skill with JSP and my ability to quickly assimilate myself in preexisting code. The original developers could not be found and so the source code for the Java bean was unavailable. I had to go into each dynamic page and strip out the necessary JSP and rework it so that it fit into the new interface. Many hours were spent researching the existing code and finding innovative ways of hacking the existing code to meet the client’s needs for the new interface.

I had to design develop and administer an online search engine and database for a client located in the middle east. This proved interesting because both the client and I were located in very different time zones and we were never able to converse on the phone. The entire project was dropped in my hands to complete with little intervention from the client. Despite the lack of assistance from the client I was able to complete the project on time and within their budget.

Description:
This was a multimillion dollar project with high stress/high stakes development under tight deadlines. I was brought in specifically to speed up the development so that the team could finish in time for the rollout date. My duties involved taking the static html from the designers and coding them with ASP and JavaScript to connect to the COM object the team developed for the business logic. This project proved very interesting because Wal-Mart had their own development team working on connecting their servers to our kiosks so we were constantly rotating members between the two teams to keep integration tight. Despite the intense work environment I was able to perform above average and quickly became one of the most productive members of my team.

This was a very extensive and robust project that required a lot of knowledge of SQL and relational database techniques. The mixture of ColdFusion, JavaScript and SQL was very in-depth. Working all by myself I had to use my talents in each of these areas to their fullest because the project proved to be very large requiring thousands of lines of code.
